RELAXING EXERCISES January 25, 2011

Filed under: Uncategorized — friendlyindian @ 3:00 pm

in today’s class we did some physical exercise. this exercise was very good. we did it for 15-20 minutes. in this exercise we stretch our whole body.  it felt really good. after all the tiredness of the school i felt really refreshing when i actually did the stretch. i forget every thing when i was doing the stretching. that time i was only focusing on the stretching. when i was doing the stretching i forgot all the stress, all my problems. the stretching was really helpful for me. when i stretching my body automatically started stretching. i didn’t think that i should stretch this. i felt like my body knew what part i should stretch the most.

when ever miss Gisele   plan of some kind of physical exercise, it is really useful for.  i used to think that i am not able to focus on anything for a long time but today this exercise proved me wrong because i knew i was focusing on the thing. when i was doing it i didn’t look what other people was doing. that time i felt my brain was controlling my whole body.  after the exercise i was actually been able to focus on my work. i think was was very good and useful for me. all this stretching is useful in theater as well because in theater we have to be flexible and by doing all this exercises i think we can make our body flexible enough. this well be useful for me in future as well.

i think every drama teacher use to teach us all this stuff because MR. TION always did different type of exercise. in the very beginning of our class MR. TION did all this physical exercise with us. when i did all the exercise i felt really relaxing and good all the time.

overall today exercise was very good. i will love to do this exercise again 🙂 🙂 🙂 because my doing this  i get to things which i think i can’t do but  i actually can do it and it is a very good way to relax after all the stress.

from this exercise i get ti know that if only our mind is relaxed than only we can focus on something because if there are different  things going around our mind, we will  never be able to focus on anything. so, from now onwards i will try my best to keep my mind relaxed so that i can focus on things.

director’s role in a play January 24, 2011

23rd january 2011

today we talked about how director’s are an important part of a play. i thought that directors job is to direct the play thats all. before this discussion i used to think that director’s work is so easy not like the artist in the play that have to read their lines, memorize it. but after this discussion  my opinion changed. now i think that the most hardest part  is of a director.  in this class we talked about how can a director be a good leader. what type of qualities should a good director have.

it is important for a director to have a clear vision of the play in his mind. the director should be able to express his/her vision to the actors. when i heard that i was so shoked that directores have to do so much work. the director have to be good at explaining his/her vision to the actors. for that he/she has to find a way so that the actors will enjoy to listen to the vision and be excided to do the play.  if the directors wll not di this properly than the actors will be confused about what they are doing and they will ruin the whole thing.

in 2009, MR. TION was my drama teacher. under his guidence we started doing a play called ” the ten little indians”. in that play their was a director and some actors. all the time MR. TION used to spend time after the director. he always yelled on the director. when ever he/she did mistake he tyired his best to improve it. that time i didn’t know why the director’s are so important for a play. but today i got my answer.

in future if i get a chance to be a director in any play, i will always remenber this discussion because in this discussion we really talked about some importabt qualities and some other good things about the director. i will always remember that one of the most important quality in a director is confidence. if i keep all this things in mind i am sure i will be a good director 🙂 🙂 🙂

mashfique’s workshop (kabuki theater) January 18, 2011

Filed under: Uncategorized — friendlyindian @ 3:40 pm

after 2 months it was time for mashfique to presentation. his topic was kabuki theater. to introduce his topic he first he showed us a small power point. his power point was full of pictures. none of the information was written in the power point.  he actually memorized all the dates and he explain each and every slide by not reading anything. this was very good. i was very shocked. he knew about his topic so well. he didn’t need so see anything (the information). i thought that i should do the same thing ever i will show a power point. miss Gisele was so proud that mashfique knows his topic very well. this shows that how confident he was.  from this i will try that in future i never read the slides because is my case when every i read the slide it makes me more nervous. i think when ever i speak in front of every one even my classmate, i have lack of confidence.  i showed he more confident while doing a power point because in future if do a business i have to be very free and confident in front of every one.

from this workshop i get to know about kabuki theater. i know that much that i can explain to other person about kabuki theater. mashfique showed us some videos about the movement of female and male actors. in this theater the actors and actresses walk really slowly. the females have a fan all the time with them. i think this are some important things which we need while doing kabuki.

at the end when mashfique did an activity we didn’t actually showed us the moves of kabuki. so we didn’t know what to do. one of my weakness is if someone doesn’t show me movement in a dance or in a play i never get it never ever and unfortunately mashfique did the same thing. he didnt show us the movement. so i did my best to do it.

over all his workshop was good. i like the was he explained thing in his power point, the confident he had in himself.

bilingual Jatra Workshop January 10, 2011

Filed under: Uncategorized — friendlyindian @ 3:50 pm

today was a very nice day for me. today we did something which i never heard of and i never try or did it. it was call bilingual jatra.  it was very new for me.  we did this on the athletics days. there were people from AISD  who joined us in the workshop. it was very quite huge group. it was like 10 -11 people.

we started the workshop by doing some warm up exercise.  the exercise was related to theater.  the first exercise was reflection. in the first exercise we were supposed to choose a partner. then we had to imagine that there is a mirror between both the people. so what every the person does the second person had to do it.  we did it for like 10min. it was really fun. but i couldn’t follow my partner because i wasn’t focusing on it but after tying and trying i finally did it 🙂 🙂 :).  i was so happy when i did it. in this exercise we were allowed to move around. it was really fun. the auditorium was big that’s why no one hurt each other.

in this type of jatra singing and dancing is very important . to show us a demonstration one of the teacher came up on the stage and he did showed us some dance steps and he was singing was well. the song was in bangla. the name of the song was “AMAR PAGLA GHORA”. some of the people from both AISD and ISD didn’t understand bangla but still they tried to sing the song and do the dance. one thing about both the AISD and ISD people was that they weren’t shy or afraid of doing something. they really like to try this things. i like this thing very much because in  my opinion if you are shy or anything then that person can never do drama. drama is a art and in drama we have to open yourself. we have to free yourself.

after the singing and dancing we were given a script. romeo and Juliet script. it was the Shakespeare version. i think that Shakespeare version is very haed to read and pronunce. i didn’t know how will i do . this was the first time i would read a script like this. but than i realized that everything has a first time and i love to try new things. so i decided to give it a go. AISD people was also involved in this. while starting the script we were asked to introduce our self to the AISD people because for the AISD people we were new and for them we were new. after we get to know each other names we started doing the script. in was a BILINGUAL JATRA so we were not allowed to read the whole script line wise. we were given the most popular scene (the balcony scene). we had to act the scene. in this jatra we involve some bangla in it. so for our scene juliet part was fine. Juliet had to talk in English. the Shakespeare language but for ROMEO it was different. we were asked to translate romeo’s line in bangla. which was really hard because when i read the scene i didn’t understand half of the meaning of it 😛 😛 :P. so i didn’t know what to do. i was really scared that time because we were supposed to show our thing it front of every one. then one of the teacher came to us and she said to me that it is not necessary that we translate each and every sentence or word. we just need to understand what the writer actually wants to say us. after that i feel like i can do it. so i decided to do romeo’s part. i understand what the writer was trying to say the readers. so, i just go for it. naureen was my patner and she was playing juliet’s part as she is good in english and she understand shakespeare’s stories very nicely and for me i was comfortable with bangla. so i decided to me ROMEO.we had only 10 minutes to prepare. me and naureen practice our lines like 5 times. so we were not scared at all. we knew that we need to give our best 🙂 🙂 :).

when our time was up, one by one evry one went to the stage and did their scene. naureen’s and mine performance was the scond last. when i was getting up from my chair i was really nervous. i knew that we were not marked on this thing but still i was scared. i was thinking that if i do something wrong than what will i do. but naureen said to me that everything will be fine. so me and naureen went on the stage and did our scene. when i was doing my part i wasn’t looking at the audience because i knew that if i do so that i will be nervous and i will mess up everything. when we were done everyone was looking at us as they didn’t realize that the thing was over. i didn’t know was it a good thing or not. but i was proud of myself that i did my best and i didn’t do any mistake. after a while the audience started clapping. that time i feel really good.

over all this workshop was very good. i really liked the workshop. English and bangla mixed drama. i will love to do this again 🙂 🙂 :). from this i get to know that by understanding the meaning of something we can translate it into many different language and if you try doing something we can definitely do it. nothing is impossible if we try and in theater we have to try different things. 🙂 🙂 :).

after everything was over and i was going towards the filed miss farjahan (bagla teacher) asked me about this think and she asked me to be prepared. i didn’t understand why did she asked me to be ready. then she told me that the bangla department is going to do something like this and she want’s me to take part in it. i directly said ok to her because by doing the bilingual jatra i know are the main techniques and what are the things which are important for this jatra 🙂 🙂 :). learning new things make me feel very happy : ) 🙂 🙂

class with grade 8 people January 4, 2011

Filed under: Uncategorized — friendlyindian @ 4:00 pm

today miss Gisele was absent. so we had class with miss jen. she had her own class to teach and she was supposed to teach us as well.  so miss jen and we all (11 grade people) decided to work with grade 8 people. firstly i didn’t like the idea because our drama group was very small as compared to the 8th grade. plus parul was absent today so it was only 6 of us. miss jen never take our class before so i didn’t know how she was in teaching. but still she was leading the class so we were supposed to follow her.

so firstly we played a small game. miss jen gave every one a fruit name like mango, banana, orange. every one was sitting on a chair. the rule of the game was a person will stand in the middle of the circle and who ever is in the middle he/she will class out one of the fruit name and the people who have that fruit name have to switch their places.  it was quite interesting game. i really liked it 🙂 🙂 🙂 and plus in was a big group so i was having very much fun 🙂 🙂 :). we played that game for like 5 minutes then we switch to another game. next game was about improvising. in that game miss jen made two groups. group A and group B. both the groups was sitting face to face. it was actually a partner work. the rule of the game was, there is a huge wall between both the groups. a person from group A will come in a style that group B has to open the door and have to guess whao is the person and what he/she wants. we have to say only 2-3 dialogues.  After every one was prepared we started the game. the game was really fun 🙂 🙂 :). some dialogues was funny. i like mashfiq’s one the most 🙂 🙂 :). it was really very funny 🙂 🙂 :). i enjoyed the game a lot because it was a very big group and there were people who really loves drama like me ♥♥♥♥♥. the good thing about the grade 8 people was that they were friendly, they love to try new things and they are not shy of doing things and they were very cooperative. my partner was really helpful.

in this whole thing i had very much fun 🙂 : ) :). working with the grade 8 was a nice experience for me.  i really like working with them. in this lesson i learn more about improvising. which is important in DRAMA. i get to know new people. i get to know that if we work in group we need to be cooperative.

overall this is a very nice experience for me 🙂 🙂 :). if i get a chance to work with the grade 8 agin i will live to do so ♥♥♥♥♥♥.
